Lulu [Commission]

I just had the privilege to draw this gorgeous cat! She was so pretty, and I had a great time making this.

Lilo [Commission]

Not long ago I received a commission asking for a custom watercolor portrait of a cat. So here’s Lilo! I struggled a bit with the long white fur since I used watercolor. Long fur usually isn’t much of a challenge for me with pencil, but using watercolor made it considerably more complicated. The eyes, as well, could have been better, in my opinion. The cat’s eyes were more rounded and oval shaped in the photo, and mine made them look a bit sharper around the edges. Despite all this, I think the portrait turned out pretty good overall, and it was really fun to paint! It’s always good to go out of your comfort zone and try a new media that you may not be fully accustomed to. Anyway, what do you guys think? Any suggestions on what I can improve in the future? Feedback and constructive criticism is always appreciated!

Bear and Leia [Commissions]

Here are two more commissions I made. The cat’s name is Bear, and the guinea pig is Leia. It was fun to draw all of Bear’s fluff, and Leia was interesting because I don’t usually draw guinea pigs, and her fur was very spiky. It sort of stuck out at different angles in tufts. Anyway, enjoy!

Nomi and Jazz [Commissions]

I was recently asked to draw two beautiful cats, Nomi (white and ginger) and Jazz (brown tabby). I really enjoyed making their portraits. It was a bit of a challenge, most of my cat drawings being American Shorthairs or similar, but nonetheless fun. On Nomi’s portrait, I used some purple for shading, which was something I don’t think I’ve done before. At one point it was too purple, so I balanced it out with gray. I think that the purple makes it seem a little bit more interesting, since there’s so much white on the canvas. Jazz was darker, so I just shaded with brown.
