Brendan

I drew A MAN! With FACIAL HAIR! You may be asking, “Why should I care?” And I guess it really doesn’t matter. But I’ve never done this before, at least not very well. This obviously isn’t perfect, but I think it’s an improvement on my past attempts.

This character is named Brendan, and he’s from a D&D campaign I’m running. I may or may not have used a painting of Jesus as a reference…shhh.

Gift for Emma

Today is my friend Emma’s birthday, so of course I had to draw something for her. She’s working on a webcomic, and this guy is the main character! He was certainly…different…to draw, and I had a lot of trouble shading his ears. Originally, there was a city scene background, but I jut wasn’t satisfied with it. I’ll have to practice my background and perspective skills.

I think it turned out pretty well, though, and I’m quite happy with the way the clothes turned out.

Hoofs

DeviantArt was hosting an April Fool’s Day event where they asked everyone to draw this goofy character, Hoofs. Probably the strangest thing I’ve drawn in a while, but fun nonetheless!

Gift for Zam

Here’s a birthday gift for one of my good friends online! She has accounts on DeviantArt, YouTube, and Instagram, but I’ll link her Scratch profile because that’s where she’s most active. She’s super talented and one of the nicest people I’ve met on the site, so I’d highly recommend following her.

Whew! This piece took forever, but that’s not too much of a surprise–it’s been weeks since I last picked up a pencil, let alone drew anything! And it’s been even longer since I made any digital art. It feels good to draw again, though! I’m pretty happy with how this turned out, too. I tried a few new techniques, played around with some brushes, and overall just had a lot of fun making this piece.

“A Very Salty Christmas” Album Cover

When two of my friends (a.k.a. the people behind the band/YouTube channel Salt and Butter) asked me if I would draw the cover for their Christmas album, I was more than happy to do it. They gave me a basic sketch of what they wanted–a tree in the middle, with a salt shaker and a stick of butter upside-down in the top corners–but aside from that, the rest could pretty much be whatever I wanted. I figured a jumble of characters and song references would look neat, so I made sure to include jokes from all of their new songs. If you’re interested in seeing my drawing process for this piece, be sure to check out my speedpaint on YouTube. And don’t forget to listen to “A Very Salty Christmas”!

Gift for ProbablyBeatrice

Two birthday gifts in one day!! This one’s for ProbablyBeatrice, known on YouTube as Bel Kate. She has great art and a really nice voice, so I’d recommend checking out her DeviantArt or YouTube channel. I tried out some new shading techniques, and experimented with some different style elements. Overall, I’m pretty content with this piece, but I still have plenty of room to improve.
