Gifts for Glacierthecatwow

A friend of mine on DeviantArt put me on her wishlist…I thought that was so sweet, so I made some art for her! This is her character.

3 Years of Scratch

Here’s a drawing I made to commemorate my 3rd anniversary of joining https://scratch.mit.edu. I didn’t realize it was coming up until the last minute, so the drawing was a little rushed.

DeviantArt Holiday Card Project 2019

Front of the card
Inside the card

DeviantArt is encouraging artists to design holiday cards, which they will distribute to people in hospitals during the holiday season. I thought it sounded like a nice thing to do and thought I’d participate. I’ve been wanting to do calligraphy for a while, but this is one of the first times I’ve actually tried it.

The front of the card was done with a micron pen, which was a little hard to work with (for this purpose). Inside, I switched to a brush pen, which made the writing a lot easier. The lettering inside is a little bit crooked, but I don’t think it’s too distracting. Overall, I think it looks pretty good.

If you want to check out the program, here’s a link to the informational page: https://www.deviantart.com/team/journal/Holiday-Card-Project-2019-817011696

I think it’s a great program, and it’s definitely worth doing!

The Literature Club

Left to right: Nonexistent Natsuki, Makayla as Sayori, me as Monika, Grisham as the MC (whom we named Avacado), and Jacqueline as Yuri

I thought it would be fun to draw some of my friends as the Doki Doki Literature Club characters that they read the lines for in our last playthrough of the game—so here it is! You may notice that Natsuki’s face is blank: that’s because no one specifically chose to play her. We would usually alternate through reading her lines, but since none of us one really liked her that much (or we preferred othe characters) , she remained pretty insignificant throughout the game.

I’m not quite sure what gave me the idea to draw this. It’s been months since we played DDLC…but recently I’ve been considering replaying it and maybe trying out a different path.

In terms of the art itself, I’m pretty happy with this drawing. They didn’t really end up looking anything like us, and Grisham looks pretty feminine, but those are both things I’m working on. Regardless, I’m still quite proud of it. I think I’ve come a long way, especially when it comes to drawing hands.

Animal Hybrid Sketches

Left to right: whale-cat, salamander-ostrich, blobfish-dog, spider-pig, platypus-turtle, peacock-weasel, and giraffe-snake

Making random animal fusions is something I like to do to when I’m bored, to pass the time. Here are some odd hybrids I made up last week.

Amigurumi Unicorn

Not too long ago, I decided to try out amigurimi—the Japanese art of crocheted or knitted stuffed toys. I’ve really enjoyed making them, and I’m planning on giving some to my cousins as Christmas gifts. This unicorn is the third doll I’ve made so far, and the first one I’m making for Christmas. I used this free pattern from Jess Huff: https://jesshuff.com/jazzy-unicorn-free-amigurumi-pattern/
