Nomi and Jazz [Commissions]

I was recently asked to draw two beautiful cats, Nomi (white and ginger) and Jazz (brown tabby). I really enjoyed making their portraits. It was a bit of a challenge, most of my cat drawings being American Shorthairs or similar, but nonetheless fun. On Nomi’s portrait, I used some purple for shading, which was something I don’t think I’ve done before. At one point it was too purple, so I balanced it out with gray. I think that the purple makes it seem a little bit more interesting, since there’s so much white on the canvas. Jazz was darker, so I just shaded with brown.

Art In The Park 2018 — Colored Pencil

From July 13th to July 15th, I participated in “Art in the Park” for the second time. The first was in 2016, two years ago. Unlike last time, I used both colored pencil AND watercolor. I made some drawings beforehand, and did custom portraits of pets, as well.

I think I’ve improved a lot over the last two years, and I hope to keep doing so! Here are the links to some of the art I made last time.

Orca

Orca

“The killer whale or orca (Orcinus orca) is a toothed whale belonging to the oceanic dolphin family, of which it is the largest member. Killer whales have a diverse diet, although individual populations often specialize in particular types of prey. Some feed exclusively on fish, while others hunt marine mammals such as seals and dolphins.”

The orca, sometimes known as a killer whale, is a graceful creature related to the dolphin family. It has smooth skin with an elegant black-and-white pattern.  Because orcas are mammals, like us, they need to breathe oxygen. They do this with a hole in the top of their heads called a blowhole. It is in that particular spot so that they just need to stick their head out of the water a bit, then dive back down into the sea. This is the same with whales and dolphins. Sometimes when orcas surface, they jump out of the water, called breaching. Some say that this is a form of communicating over long distances.

“Wings Of Fire” Rainwing

Hello everyone! I just finished a dragon  drawing in my sketchbook. It is supposed to be Glory (a dragon)  from the book “Wings Of Fire” by Tui T. Sutherland. I have not read the series, but it looks like a good one. I hope you enjoy it!

Art In The Park 2016

I made it into the Art In The Park event! They are giving me a 7 x 7 space to sell art! I am really excited! Art In The Park takes place on three different days, July 8th, July 9th, and July 10th. I am going to be selling the clay animals (which are shown in a previous post, Clay Art), plus a lot more! The event is coming soon, so I have started to  get to work. Two of my creations are shown here.
